TEFL certificate entry requirements for the Trinity CertTESOL

3 – READ THE SERVICE AGREEMENT

When you apply, you acknowledge your acceptance of the EBC Service Agreement. Please read the Service Agreement.

• Complete the pre-admission checklist shown above.
• Click here to apply for the online TEFL course.
• We will inform you of your acceptance status within two working days of receiving your application.
• You will be contacted to arrange an admissions interview that you must attend in person, by phone or digital media, e.g. Whatsapp, Skype, Viber. etc.
• You will attend your admissions interview, and after you have passed, you must send a deposit or full payment as quickly as possible to guarantee your course place.
• You will receive pre-course work that must be completed before starting your course.
• All virtual classroom information and pre-course work are sent to you after you have sent your deposit or full course payment.
• You must be fully paid before the course starts. We will send you a reminder when your final payment is due.

• You will receive pre-course work that must be completed before starting your course.
• All arrival information and pre-course work are sent to you after you have sent your deposit or full course payment.
• You must be fully paid before the course starts. We will send you a reminder when your final payment is due.
• On the first day of the course, you MUST BRING a copy of your payment receipts, proof of age and copies of your qualifications, or you will NOT BE ALLOWED TO START THE COURSE.

Obligatory TEFL certification requirements

Requirements for candidates for the four-week TEFL course in Madrid and online:

• You must agree to have an admissions interview before you are accepted
• You should be 18 years old by the course start date
• You must have a high level of competence in all aspects of English (*)
• You must have completed secondary education and have a qualification to enter higher education.

(*) Non-native English speakers are eligible if they meet the requirements in the Non-native English Speakers section below.

Previous teaching experience is not a requirement.

Optional TEFL certification acceptance enhancers

If you have experience in these areas, please include it on your TEFL course application.

• Lived, worked or travelled abroad
• Knowledge of a second language
• A degree or higher
• Work experience
• Recent additional studies
• Experience in dealing with groups of people
• Volunteer work
• Mentoring, tutoring or teaching
• Teaching experience

You must also show serious intent to use your teacher training in a realistic way for your career development.

TEFL Certification requirements for non-native English speakers

In addition to the standard course admission interview, you may be required to show one of the following:

• A degree from a university in one of the following countries: Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, United Kingdom or the United States of America
• Cambridge CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English)
• IELTS level 6
• TOEFL (minimum scores 525 on the paper-based test or 80 on the computer-based test)

• Youngest student: 18
• Oldest student: 68
• Average age: 27

Qualifications

• 97% of students hold a bachelor’s degree (the remaining 3% have at least 5 years professional work experience)
• 12% of students hold a master’s degree
• 2% of students hold a doctorate

Gender

• 60% of students are female
• 40% of students are male

Nationality

• 40% of students are from the USA
• 30% of students are from the UK
• 30% of students are from other countries
